Minerve
Officially one of the most beautiful villages in France, the unspoilt medieval village of Minerve is definitely one to add to your list of outings if you are on holiday in the Hérault.
Minerve is a charming Languedoc village located in a valley between Carcassonne and Béziers.
A historic Cathar village, with a charming stone bridge as well as two impressive natural tunnels carved by rivers that children will love to explore.
Climb up to the large catapult that overlooks the village, which is a reproduction of the one used during the siege against the Cathars in the 13th century.
You will find several restaurants in Minerve in the charming little streets.
There is a large car park just outside the village (parking in the village is not possible).
Do not hesitate to bring back a few bottles of local Minerve red wine as a souvenir.
Renowned vineyards, Minervois wines
The vineyards are part of the Minervois landscape, it was the Romans who brought the vines there. The rocky and arid soils of the plateaus give round, fruity and full-bodied wines. Control is placed upon the quality of the wines produced here, from traditional grape varieties. Whether red, white or rosé, let yourself be surprised by what they have to offer.
Walks in the heart of the Minervois
Walk and discover the rocky paths of the Minervois, discover the vineyards bathed in light, venture into the deep notches of the Cesse and Brian gorges.
Many hiking trails, mountain bike trails or cycle routes will take you through exceptional sites. Provide water in summer, and plan your hike early in view of the temperatures.
