Visit Lauzerte in the Quercy Blanc
Visit Lauzerte in Quercy Blanc.
Lauzerte is a perched 12th century bastide which is located on the "via Podiensis", one of the paths leading to Santiago de Compostela.
Originally, the hill of Lauzerte was a Gallic oppidum. Its current name dates from around the year 1000. Taken from the Latin "lucerna", lamp, it designates an ideal position, visible from afar like a light.
It is one of the most beautiful villages in the Tarn et Garonne.
Jacques Buchholtz and Lauzerte
A little dream in the head. A little earth in the hands. Much joy in the heart
Ceramist and sculptor, Jacques Buchholtz left traces as he liked to say, using Réné Char's quote, "A poet must leave traces of his passage, not proofs. Only traces make you dream".
On the Place des Cornières, you can see the lifting of the floor facings called 'Le Coin Ralevé' carried out in 1988.
Crafts Village
Discover the Pèlerin garden and park, a remarkable garden designed in the form of a life-size game of goose on the theme of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.
To see near Lauzerte
Tournon d'Agenais
About twenty kilometers east of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, the royal fortified town of Tournon-d'Agenais overlooks the verdant Boudouyssou valley.
Auvillar
The history of this village is linked to that of the Garonne. The port was a former toll that allowed local Viscounts to tax foreign goods passing through the village.
Pujols-le-haut
Perched on a hill overlooking the Lot valley, this old square has survived the centuries and the wars while retaining its medieval character: remains of the enclosures and the castle, fortified gates. You will discover a village full of charm with houses with white or half-timbered facades.
