Two Pigeonnier Towers to rent
Driving around the French countryside, you'll often see these charming quirks of architecture; pigeonnier towers.
They were indeed constructed as homes for pigeons. Pigeon homes were called 'colombiers' or 'fuies' from the 13th century onwards and then 'pigeonniers' from the 19th century.
In medieval times, having a pigeonnier tower at your manor or chateau was a symbol of status as well as a display of wealth as it let everyone know that you were feasting happily on pigeons everyday !

Le Pigeonnier de la Bastide in Provence
This is a stunning and quite charming, high quality, restored pigeonniertower to sleep 2 with large private pool - a perfect week's getaway.
The tower sits next to the pool in a large lawned garden in the grounds of a large country home.
Accommodation comprises open-plan, ground floor living and dining area with corner kitchen. Magnificent, south-facing views towards the Esterel. Upstairs, the double bedroom has a glass floor (!) and ensuite bathroom and similar views.
