They are experts at looking after you...
Your hosts are the charming Maïa, a former tour guide, and her husband Frédéric, a civil engineer who have escaped from a more hectic life in Paris to the peaceful Loire countryside. They are experts at looking after you and they are just next door and always on hand if you need them.
The property is located between Saumur and Angers in a national park.
The very highly regarded vineyards of Coteaux du Layon, Anjou-Brissac, Saumur-Champigny, Chinon are within easy access. Local producers are always very pleased to welcome visitors for a tasting and will sell their produce to you directly at very reasonable prices. We highly recommend 'le tasting room' run by Cathy and Nigel who have a wide range of courses suited to those passionate about wine.
The French National Riding School...
With the French National Riding School based at Saumur, it is natural that our region should have many establishments offering a range of horse riding. One of them is located at 1 km from La Maison de la Plaine and Pavillon du Jardin.
Visit the famous museums of Angers, enjoy the attraction park 'Terrabotanica...
Saumur has a stunning château with a wonderful view and you'll find all amenities in the town. Visit the famous museums of Angers, enjoy the attraction park 'Terrabotanica'. Don't forget to visit the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, burial place of Richard the Lionheart, Eleanor of Aquitaine and her husband Henry II, King of England. Browse the flea-markets, don't miss the food markets.
A short distance from La Maison de la Plaine and Pavillon du Jardin is the famous troglodyte village of Rochemenier, which features a subterranean church and a picturesque restaurant. The world famous zoo of Doué-la-Fontaine is also a few minutes drive away. The nearest of the many châteaux of the Loire is also the tallest, Brissac, a 10 minutes drive away. For golf players, go to Saint Jean-les-Mauvrets. And for an unforgettable experience, try a flight over the area in a hot-air balloon…
