The museum is located in the former epicopal palace which houses the town hall and the drawing school. It takes the name of two painter-sculptors, Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres from the 18th century and Emile-Antoine Bourdelle from the 19th century, both from Montauban and whose works are on permanent display at the museum.
