The red balloon, a short film by Albert Lamorisse

If you have 30 min, during this confinement, the Pure France team strongly advises you to watch Le Ballon Rouge.

This short film by Albert Lamorisse dates from 1956.

The Ballon Rouge, a poetic short film

The Ballon Rouge is filmed in Paris in the 1950s, in a popular district, in Ménilmontant. A little boy finds a big red balloon hanging from a street light.

The balloon and the little boy become friends and the balloon follows him everywhere by itself.

The other boys in the neighborhood are jealous of this friendship and want to separate them, grab or hurt the ball.

A short film without dialogue, accompanied by music by Maurice Le Roux.

The Ballon Rouge, Palme d'Or in 1956

The Ballon Rouge received several awards including the Palme d'Or for short films at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival.
