The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nice
If you're on vacation near Nice and you're a fan of modern and contemporary art, then don't leave without visiting this museum. Open since 1990 in Nice, you will have enough to spend a good time with the 4,000 m² spread over nine showrooms on three levels. The entrance and the shop are at the level of the Niki de Saint Phalle esplanade overlooking the square Yves Klein. The muzzle spaces are devoted on the first floor to temporary exhibitions, the second and third level house the permanent collections.
This museum is the second busiest site in Nice.
You will also find an exhibition of Ernest Pignon-Ernest from Nice, the precursor of urban art in France.
Pieces
This museum contains 1331 works by 346 artists as of October 13, 2014, including 436 paintings and 292 sculptures and installations, which offer an avant-garde panorama of artistic creation from the end of the 1950s to the present day, articulated around different movements. The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nice was inaugurated with several coherent projects for the creation of such a museum appearing in Nice in the second half of this century.
An international program
The museum offers a regular program of international-level exhibitions on the 1st stage and in its contemporary gallery, alternating thematic exhibitions and monographs of major personalities in the art of the last sixty years. Guided tours, workshops, truant meetings with artists or researchers in the room, storytelling tours, conferences or screenings in the auditorium, dance tours, concerts, performances and events. A hundred meetings a year so that the museum is a place of life and sharing.
