Sète, Mediterranean destination

Sète is an important port city in the south-east of France, located in Occitanie. It is bordered by the Etang de Thau, a saltwater lagoon that is home to various animal species. Along a narrow isthmus, the Mediterranean coast of Sète is made up of sandy beaches.

Discover the specialties and local products of Sète, in particular fruits and vegetables, wines and cheeses, but also shellfish, fish, sea bream, tielles and oysters from the Thau lagoon. The museum hosts major temporary exhibitions where internationally renowned artists are honored: Robert Combas, Raoul Dufy, Edouard Manet. A visit will continue in the gardens surrounding the places where events related to the museum's collections take place.

Discover emblematic places in the heart of the wild nature and the fauna and flora. A stone's throw from Occitan villages such as Balaruc-les-Bains, Frontignan, Loupian.

Thematic workshops

If you feel like it, you can do a themed creative workshop: Land Art workshop for example, or painting lessons. If you want a culinary experience, enjoy a nature walk with the theme "Terroir". You will have the opportunity to visit a farmhouse and taste wines from the region and visit a shellfish farm* to accompany your glass of wine with a plate of oysters. *Shellfish farming: Shellfish farming is the farming of shellfish, which is itself a form of aquaculture.

Sète is located at the water's edge, you will find a pretty fishing port, Pointe-Courte with pretty colored houses lined up.

Contemporary art in Sète

The "concept-store museum" Reservoir is a rehabilitated old garage in which contemporary art has settled over 2,500m² You will find there works, exhibitions as well as the private collection of contemporary art. Admission is free with meeting and sharing spaces, as well as an art bookstore.
