Rock of Rocalinaud in Beaumes-de-Venise

A walking trail situated near the French village of Beaumes-de-Venise in Provence, 13km in length varying in elevation from between 82 metres and 290 metres passes the famous rock of Rocalinaud, an unusual rock formation nicknamed 'Luna rock' due to its unique form that has been sculpted by wind and rain and salt water when it was once covered by the sea more than a million years ago.

The rock is carved into amazing shapes with panoramic views towards Beaumes-de-Venise.

East of the villa of Beaumes-de-Venise set in the vineyards, the Luna Rock is situated nearby the Dentelles de Montmirail, a small chain of mountains at the foot of Mont Ventoux, one of the highest peaks in Provence.
