History

Puy du Fou was born out of the vision of Philippe de Villiers, who in 1977 stumbled upon the ruins of the old Renaissance château of Puy du Fou. Inspired by the potential to bring history to life, de Villiers created the first “Cinéscénie” show in 1978, a nighttime spectacle that would set the stage for the park’s future. The success of Cinéscénie led to the expansion of the park, transforming it into the sprawling, multi-faceted destination it is today.

Spectacular shows

One of the main attractions of Puy du Fou is its array of breathtaking shows. Each performance is a meticulously crafted production that blends history with artistry, featuring actors, animals, and pyrotechnics.

  1. Cinéscénie Cinéscénie is the flagship show that started it all. This grand night-time spectacle features over 2,000 actors on a stage spanning 23 hectares. It takes the audience on a journey through French history, from the Middle Ages to World War II, complete with stunning light shows, fireworks, and dramatic music.

  2. Le Signe du Triomphe Set in a Roman amphitheater, “Le Signe du Triomphe” is a thrilling spectacle that transports spectators back to the time of the Roman Empire. The show features gladiatorial combats, chariot races, and exotic animals, all set against the backdrop of an authentic-looking Roman arena.

  3. Les Vikings In “Les Vikings,” visitors witness a dramatic Viking attack on a peaceful village. The show is a blend of action and pyrotechnics, featuring longboats emerging from the water, fierce battles, and a mythical storyline that captivates all ages.

  4. Le Bal des Oiseaux Fantômes For a more ethereal experience, “Le Bal des Oiseaux Fantômes” showcases the beauty and majesty of birds of prey. This daytime show features over 200 birds, including eagles, owls, and falcons, soaring above the audience in a choreographed display of grace and power
