Pure France, Tour de France. Day 4, Dinard
It's always hard to leave Bordeaux, but an hour or so north of the city, we arrive in a tiny hamlet to take on another new holiday rental property. In the tiny countryside hamlet of Saint Georges des Agouts, is a super detached house with open views of south-facing fields.
A very child-friendly house with large games room with every conceivable game (pool table, table football, darts, train set, equipment for football, badminton, table-tennis, boules, croquet, pool toys...).
Large private pool, large garden with wendy house and caravan and hammock. Everything for an unforgettable holiday. Attention to detail everywhere - 4 lovely bedrooms and open-plan living and dining area with kitchen.
From there, it's an easy and enjoyable drive to the north coast of Brittany. Our destination is Dinard, just across the estuary from Saint Malo and one of France's premier beach resorts. Unlike some of its Mediterranean comptariots, Dinard is utterly charming and completely unpretentious. Huge beach and promenade with café bars and an array of great restaurants. And some typical architecture from the region.
Dinard hosts an annual international film festival and the town has honoured the great film director, Alfred Hitchcock with a statue.
Picasso also visited - he stayed in what was the famous art-deco hotel, Le Gallic, dating back to 1927.
Eric Rohmer filmed one of the greatest ever French films in Dinard in 1996, 'Le Conte d'Eté'.
