Pure France, Tour de France. Day 1, Bergerac
Day 1. A four hour drive from the south coast into the beautiful countryside of the Dordogne and Perigord in Nouvelle Aquitaine. Deep blue skies and temperatures touching 30°C.
Today's visit takes us to a tiny, picturesque village 15 minutes from Bergerac. Montastruc-Lamonzie is a charming commune of traditional houses offering a lazy way of passing the days. The house here is beautiful - a rare, one bedroom property with one of the prettiest pool areas in the region. The pool and garden look resplendent today under the warm sun and blue sky.

And then on to Bergerac. A fantastic, medieval town on the banks of the river Dordogne. Famous for Cyrano de Bergerac of course...
It's great to see the café bar and restaurant terraces full again - taking advantage of the warm summer evening and huge choice of great restaurants.
An aperitif, traditional Périgord dinner and some local Pécharmant wine. There's no reason not to come to this area for a summer rental in a wonderful holiday rental home.
