Made in France; Renault Alpine
Alpine (Société des automobiles Alpine SAS) is a French automobile manufacturer, owned by the Renault group. The company was created in Dieppe, in Normandy, in 1955 by Jean Rédélé, at the time Renault dealer. He made a remarkable breakthrough in the sports automobile sector.
Coach 106 was the first Alpine. The number is a reference to the mechanics of the 4CV series 1060.
In 1971, it won its first European Constructors' Rally Championship title.
In 1973, the Alpine was crowned first world rally champion with 155 points ahead of Fiat (89 points) and Ford (76 points).
Seventeen years after the end of production of the last Alpine model, the A610, Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault, announced on November 5, 2012 the rebirth of Alpine2. On December 15, 2017, Alpine production officially resumes with the inauguration of the Alpine A110 production line.
