Let's discover the Pont du Gard, Ancient Jewel

The Pont du Gard is one of the most impressive and best preserved Roman monuments in France. Located in Occitania, near Nimes and Uzès, the Pont du Gard attracts thousands of visitors every year. Immerse yourself with us in the fascinating history and natural beauty of this iconic site.

History and architecture of the Pont du Gard

The Pont du Gard was part of a 50-kilometre-long aqueduct that transported water from Uzès to Nîmes.

With its 49 metres high, it is the highest Roman water bridge in the world. Composed of three levels of superimposed arches, it testifies to the technical genius and ingenuity of Roman engineers.

The stones used for its construction were extracted from local quarries, and the bridge was assembled without mortar, thanks to a precise adjustment of the stone blocks. The elegant arches and imposing dimensions of the Pont du Gard make it a true work of art.

The Pont du Gard site is easily accessible by car, with car parks available nearby. Once there, several activities and discoveries await you:
