Le Mont Saint-Michel
A heritage not to be missed, you can visit Mont-Saint Michel on a guided tour. The village, the abbey, the museum,
Founded at the request of the Archangel Michael by the Bishop of Avranches Aubert, the first sanctuary was consecrated on October 16, 709.
It was to become the heart of a large Benedictine abbey, famous in the Middle Ages for its treasury and its rich library. Having become a prison during the French Revolution, the Abbey was magnificently restored from the end of the 19th century. It is now open to the public all year round and managed by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux. The visit circuit allows you to discover all the spaces dedicated to daily life (refectory, cloister, scriptorium), to religious life (abbey church, chapels, crypts) and to the reception of pilgrims (chaplaincy, guest room ).
Outing and hiking in the bay, an unforgettable adventure
A hike not to be missed for thrill seekers. A hike inspired by the age-old custom of pilgrims who went to Mont Saint-Michel on foot. This is now accessible to all for an unforgettable experience.
From Mont Saint-Michel to the islet of Tombelaine (3hrs) to the 13km (6hrs) round trip crossing, there is something for everyone!
Attention! It is important and mandatory to be accompanied by a certified guide, as this can be dangerous. Why dangerous? There is the tide, the difficult areas (the famous quicksand for example!) but also the crossing of often unstable waterways. The weather is also a factor to consider. Not to mention the daily releases of water from the dam in the bed of the Couesnon, at the foot of the Mount. The certified guide guarantees you to leave safely!
