Lagrasse Abbey in Occitanie

Sainte-Marie de Lagrasse Abbey is an abbey located in the town of Lagrasse in the Aude department in the Occitanie region. A Benedictine monastery from the 8th century to the 18th century, the abbey was sold as national property during the French Revolution and divided into two lots.

Rich in 1200 years of history, the abbey of Lagrasse continues to welcome visitors every day.

Visit the Abbey

You will find two parts, a public part and a private part. The public part administered since 2005 by the Departmental Council of Aude. You will find a courtyard, the Abbot's dwelling and chapel, the monks' dormitory, the north transept of the church and a lapidary museum.

On the private part, also called the Abbey Canoniale Sainte-Marie. You will find the abbey church, the cloister, the 18th century convent buildings, the south transept and the garden (medieval and renaissance).
