La Flotte, an authentic and charming village on the island of Ré

La Flotte is located on the island of Ré, northeast of the coast, a charming village that seduces with its authenticity and friendly atmosphere. La Flotte is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France, an ideal destination for visitors looking for calm, natural and cultural discoveries and a moment of relaxation by the sea. A fishing port

The port offers a meeting place for residents and visitors. This port was once dedicated to fishing and now hosts many sailboats and pleasure boats that bring a touch of color and dynamism to this village. You can enjoy a walk along the docks lined with small houses.

The medieval market

One of the main attractions of the Fleet is its medieval market, every morning in the central square of the village. This market is ranked among the most beautiful in France with these stalls sheltered under wooden halls, full of local products, from seasonal fruits and vegetables to freshly caught fish and seafood, cheeses, cold meats and artisanal specialties. The friendly atmosphere that reigns there, combined with quality products, make this market a must for gourmets and lovers of regional cuisine.

Abbaye des Châteliers

An emblematic site of the island of Ré, founded in the 12th century by Cistercian monks, this abbey in ruins is a place steeped in history, offering a majestic setting. The remains of the abbey, surrounded by vineyards and fields, stand proudly facing the ocean, recalling the spiritual and cultural importance of this site through the centuries.

Arnerault beach: place for relaxation

For beach lovers, the Fleet offers access to the beach with the Arnerault beach, located a stone's throw from the center of the village. This sandy beach is ideal for a relaxing day with the family. The beach is equipped with the necessary amenities with activities for young and old.

Boat trip

You can enjoy a boat ride from the marina, an ideal point to explore the calm waters that surround the island. You will also find local sailing lessons for people wishing to benefit from courses (all levels, from beginner to the most advanced).

Gastronomy on the island of Ré

La Flotte is also a meeting place for gourmets. In addition to the medieval market, the village is full of small restaurants and cafes where you can taste local specialties, such as oysters from the Île de Ré, PDO potatoes, or the famous sea salt produced in the neighboring salt marshes. Visitors can also enjoy the island's wines, produced in the vineyards surrounding the village, offering a local touch to their culinary experience.
