French Fried Vacation - a cult French comedy classic
During these difficult times of confinement while most amateur sports and leisure activies are restriced, here's a classic French film set on the ski slopes to bring a smile to your face !
The Cast
The cast of the film is made up from performers from the 'The Splendid' troupe from Paris. The Splendid was the name of a theatre / café located at 10, rue des Lombards in Paris. Created in 1974 the troupe comprised Christian Clavier, Gérard Jugnot, Thierry Lhermitte, Marie-Anne Chazel, Josiane Balasko, Bruno Moynot and Michel Blanc.
They produced their first successful film, 'French Fried Vacation', ('Les Bronzés') in 1978. Set in the Ivory Coast, the film follows a group of holidaymakers who become friends, on holiday to forget their everyday problems and emotional disappointments. Games, competitions, outings, bathing and sunburn accompany a continual succession of casual affairs.
The follow-up in 1979, 'French Fried Vacation 2' is set in the Val d'Isère ski-resort, reuniting the 8 friends in another cult comedy classic. Here's a clip from the movie;
