Annecy, the Venice of the Alps
At the foot of the French Alps, you will find Annecy, known as the "Venice of the Alps", this town offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and history. Annecy is a very beautiful city which offers breathtaking views, well known for its lake, which is considered one of the purest in Europe. Surrounded by majestic mountains, this lake offers a multitude of water activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking, and sailing. For hiking enthusiasts, the trails around the lake and on the surrounding peaks offer breathtaking panoramic views.
A rich and fascinating history
The old town of Annecy, with its cobbled streets and colorful houses, seems straight out of a fairy tale. The Palais de l'Isle, a former 12th-century palace located on an island in the middle of the Thiou Canal, is one of the most photographed monuments in France. Don't miss the Château d'Annecy either, which overlooks the city and now houses a museum dedicated to the art and history of the region.
A gourmet destination
Savoyard gastronomy is another asset of Annecy. You can taste traditional dishes such as Savoyard fondue, tartiflette or even raclette, all accompanied by a glass of Savoy wine. Local markets, such as the one in the old town, offer an abundance of fresh, regional produce, perfect for a lakeside picnic.
A city of activities and events
Annecy is a lively city, with events throughout the year. In June, the International Animated Film Festival attracts creators from around the world. In summer, the Fête du Lac offers a spectacular fireworks display synchronized with music. In winter, the proximity of ski resorts allows you to combine winter sports and relaxation in the city.
