A weekend in Périgord

For a long stay or just a weekend, Périgord is full of riches and a beauty that will amaze you. For a getaway with family or friends, you will have the chance to discover this pretty corner of France for a weekend.

A verdant region, rich in historical cultural sites, with magnificent villages and generous gastronomy.

With these 4 territories: Périgord Vert, Périgord Blanc, Pourpre and Noir.

Village and castle of Bourdeilles

20 kilometers from Périgueux, this unique village rests on a rocky outcrop where you will find a medieval fortress and Renaissance pavilion.

Biron Castle

The Château de Biron is a medieval castle located in the town of Biron. It dominates the Cède valley and prides itself on being the largest castle in Périgord and even in the South West. The inner courtyard gives access to a covered terrace with pretty columns evoking an Italian theatre. In summer many activities are organized there. Films have also had the castle as a setting such as the Daughter of d'Artagnan, Jacquou le Croquant, the Pact of the Wolves.

Cadouin and its cloister

The cloister is located in the heart of the village, with its flamboyant Gothic style, it is very well maintained.

The cloister gallery is surrounded by the pretty garden full of ornaments. Next to the abbey which was a former monastery.

You can visit the cloister with audio guides.

Sarlat, a historical heritage rich in architecture

In summer, tourists love Périgord for its magnificent castles, hanging gardens, forest and medieval villages, but also for its gastronomy. The heart of the old town gives way to Renaissance and 18th century buildings worthy of the most beautiful film sets.

Gastronomy: You are in the land of truffles and duck foie gras (tastier) or goose (finer and longer in the mouth).

Local specialty: the Fest'oie, you can celebrate the goose festival in February or March.

Also a truffle market on Place de la Liberté from mid-December to mid-March, but also the truffle festival in January.
