1. Grignan

Start with an unmissable visit to the Château de Grignan, once the residence of the famous Marquise de Sévigné. This castle, perched on a hill, offers an incredible panoramic view of the Provencal landscapes. Also stroll through the alleys of the village, lined with typical stone houses and local artisan shops.

4. Valréas

In the neighbouring department of Vaucluse, Valréas, located 15 minutes by car from Grignan is a charming village with a rich wine history. Visit the Musée du Cartonnage et de l'Imprimerie, which traces the industrial history of the region. In summer, the Fête de la Véraison festival attracts many visitors with its historical recreations and street shows.

5. Nyons

If you like olives, Nyons 25 km from Grignan, nicknamed the "Little Nice", is an unmissable stop. The city is renowned for its AOC-quality olive oil. Explore the Olive Museum, then relax on one of the city's many terraces enjoying a good local wine.

  1. The Lavender Fields Between June and August, the lavender fields on the outskirts of Grignan are adorned with beautiful purple shades. For an immersive experience, visit the Gaillarde Distillery where you can discover the manufacturing process of lavender essential oil and buy local products.

  2. The Truffles of Grignan The Grignan region is famous for its black truffles. Several local farms offer guided tours and digging demonstrations (search for truffles). Don't miss the truffle markets in winter, a culinary experience not to be missed.

  3. Hiking and Cycling The Drôme provençale offers beautiful landscapes, perfect for lovers of hiking and cycling. Marked trails will lead you through the vineyards, lavender fields and hills. The Itinéraire des Baronnies is a popular cycle route that crosses breathtaking landscapes.

  4. The Caves of Rochecourbière For lovers of unusual history, don't miss the Caves of Rochecourbière, near Grignan. These natural caves served as a secret meeting place for the Marquise de Sévigné. Today, they offer a mysterious and poetic setting to discover.

  5. Provencal Markets Local markets are an institution in this region. In Grignan, the market is held on Tuesday mornings and offers a wide variety of fresh products, from local cheeses to seasonal fruits and vegetables, to spices and wines of the region.
