Location

The property is situated on a small lane in open, secluded countryside on the borders of the Dordogne, the Lot and the Lot-et-Garonne departments in south-west France.

Local amenities in the nearby town of Sauveterre-la-Lemance (6 minutes drive) with Museum of Prehistory and café bar.

Further amenities in Villefranche-du-Périgord (10 minutes) a 13th century bastide town with with restaurants, cafés, a butcher, 2 boulangeries, 2 small supermarkets, pharmacy

The surrounding countryside is green and hilly with stunning views. The famous 12th century castle of Bonaguil is only 20 minutes' drive away. There are numerous medieval villages and chateaux to explore in the area such as the bastide towns of Monpazier, Beaumont-du-Périgord, Cadouin and Bergerac, with Domme, La Roque-Gageac, medieval Sarlat-la-Canéda and Rocamadour slightly further away.

Canoeing, fishing and other water-based activities are available on the River Lot near Fumel, where cycles may be hired and horse riding is available.

There are pretty regional villages which lie to the south of the Lot, including Montcuq, Lauzerte, Montagu-de-Quercy and Tournon d'Agenais. To the east is Belaye, with its stunning view across the Lot valley, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and Cahors, built on a loop on the Lot, with its twin-domed Cathédrale Saint Etienne.

Customer Reviews [1]

A and R, August 2024
The house itself is old and gently restored, and extremely well equipped with every cooking utensil you could wish for and a very nice coffee machine. Special features are the large swimming pool close to the house, and the tennis court, which is a little higher up, with beautiful rural views. In summer there are night markets in surrounding villages where you can buy all kinds of foods, from omelettes to snails, and eat them outdoors on long trestle tables - a treat for locals and tourists alike. A wonderfully relaxing place to stay, highly recommended.
