Location

The property is set in 5 acres of private countryside, 10 minutes from the charming town of Montcuq, between Cahors 40 minutes and Bergerac 90 minutes.

Montcuq is a picturesque village nestled in the Quercy Blanc region of southwestern France, specifically in the Lot department. Known for its medieval charm, stunning landscapes and peaceful atmosphere, it offers a blend of historical and natural beauty.

All amenities including café bars and restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets.

Historical Sites;

Montcuq Tower (Tour de Montcuq) This 12th-century tower is a symbol of the village. Originally part of a larger castle, it stands 24 meters tall, offering panoramic views of the rolling hills, vineyards and the village below. You can climb to the top for breathtaking views of the Quercy Blanc region.

Saint-Hilaire Church This Romanesque church, located in the heart of the village, is a simple yet beautiful structure dating back to the 13th century. Its serene interior provides a peaceful spot for reflection.

The Medieval Streets - wander through the narrow, winding streets lined with limestone houses typical of Quercy Blanc. You’ll find remnants of ancient gates, half-timbered houses and quaint squares that transport you back in time.

Sunday Market - Montcuq is famous for its bustling Sunday market, one of the best in the region. From local cheeses, charcuterie and honey to fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers, the market is a vibrant display of local life. Don’t miss the chance to taste the Cahors wine, a specialty of the Lot region.

Local Artisans - the village has several artisans who produce pottery, jewellery and textiles. You can visit their workshops, learn about traditional crafts and buy unique souvenirs to take home.

Outdoor Activities;

Lac de Montcuq - just outside the town, this lake is perfect for a relaxing day by the water. You can swim, picnic, or enjoy paddleboarding and kayaking. There’s a small beach area with lifeguards during the summer months.

Hiking and Cycling - Montcuq is a great base for hiking and cycling, with trails that wind through vineyards, sunflower fields and forests. The Chemin de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle (The Way of Saint James) passes through the village, making it a popular stop for pilgrims.

Local Specialties - Montcuq and the surrounding Quercy region are known for their culinary delights. Try foie gras, duck confit, truffle-based dishes and rocamadour (a type of goat cheese). Local restaurants often feature these regional favorites on their menus.

Wine Tasting - The Lot region is famous for its Cahors wine, made from the Malbec grape. Many local vineyards offer tours and tastings, where you can sample the bold, dark wines of the area. Nearby wine estates, such as Château de Chambert, provide an excellent experience.

Nearby Attractions;

Lauzerte - just a 15-minute drive from Montcuq, Lauzerte is another beautiful medieval village, classified as one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France. Its hilltop position offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Cahors - 40 minutes away, Cahors is the capital of the Lot department and home to the famous Pont Valentré, a UNESCO-listed medieval bridge. The town also boasts impressive gardens and excellent restaurants.

Saint-Cirq-Lapopie - a bit farther but worth the trip, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie is a breathtaking clifftop village overlooking the Lot River. Like Montcuq, it’s rich in history and charm, offering stunning views and artistic inspiration.

Pure France - September 2024
New to the rental market for 2025. Pure France visited September 2024; a fantastic, unique country home featuring three towers set in 5 hectares of private grounds leading out to secluded countryside. Very high quality fixtures and furnishings throughout. You'll love the convivial feel of the kitchen and dining area, the master ensuite bedroom and you'll probably fight over who has the upstairs bedroom in the tower!
Fabulous pool area with poolside dining terrace and 10m x 5m private pool.
A great family home that you will remember forever. Just a 10 minutes drive to the charming local town of Montcuq with restaurants, supermarkets, bakery and market...
Highly recommended!
