Location
The property is situated in open countryside 5 minutes from the lovely market town of Mauvezin, 1 hour from Toulouse and 30 minutes from Auch in the Gers department of South West France.
Mauvezin sits on a hill between the Gimone and Arratz rivers with a 14th century market hall.
All amenities and shops restaurants.
Mauvezin also plays host to the Summer Garlic festival which during the days exhibits sculpted garlic followed in the evening by dancing and the Miss Garlic competition! Throughout the summer there are day and evening events in the square from food tasting to antique fayres often with entertainment for the children including a fun fair, bouncy castle and disco etc
Auch (30 minutes) is a larger town with large supermarkets and attractive central square with narrow streets and excellent restaurants.
Toulouse (1 hour) with hypermarkets, international airport and very attractive city centre pedestrian area with lovely shops and restaurants.
The Gers;
The most Westerly region of the 'Midi-Pyrénées', a vast and impressive mountain range, which can be seen from the top of the drive. The region is devoted to a agriculture, with rolling hills, shallow valleys and fields filled by turn with wheat, maize and sunflowers.
The landscape is dotted with small villages and traditional towns most with a central square 'hale' hosting market days and fétes. Most of the towns have all the amenities required, including a supermarket, pharmacy, bank, butcher, bars and restaurants. All are worth exploring and easily reached by car.

We have stayed at Lagarde on a number of occasions which rather says it all. The setting is idyllic which makes it instantly relaxing. The house and all the ancillary accommodation is huge and has a wonderful welcoming family feel which is grand without being imposing. It is a great place for lots of people as you never feel that you are living on top of each other and there are always quiet places to retreat to. Our favourite place to sit and eat was the courtyard which is so enchanting. Everything works and the bed linen, towels etc were all first class. The pool was perfect and we didn’t realise how competitive we could become over table tennis.
We have got to know the area very well and there is plenty to do with amazing local markets. Beautiful walks are on the doorstep.
We have met the owners who are charming and gave very useful handover notes. We have had lovely times at Lagahe and wonderful memories, as does our dog who was welcome! Great value.
