Tourist Tax
Where applicable, Pure France is required to collect and remit local government tourism taxes on behalf of our property owners. These taxes are calculated and collected from guests at the time of booking. Pure France then remits collected taxes to the applicable tax authority on the property owners' behalf.

1 hour to the beaches of La Rochelle and Ile de Ré and other main attractions of Poitou Charente such as Cognac, Poitiers, Angoulême.

For the kids there is Futuroscope and in particular the monkeys of Vallee des Singes where a close encounter with our hairy cousins is guaranteed! Canoeing, kayaking, horse riding, local leisure lakes and water parks can be booked by phone and are all within 30 minutes drive. Bike rental can be arranged.

Head to Cognac for a tour of Hennessy (including a boat ride), Martel, Courvoisier which are all within 40 minutes or explore the local Cognac distilleries where Pineau de Charente, the local specialty is also blended.

There are several free leisure lakes within 10 minutes drive that open cafés during peak season. River side attractions such as Le Rejallant and for young kids especially, Base de plein-air and André Mermet which is in Parc François in Cognac.

Bruns.
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property. It provided everything we needed for our family reunion of 3 families – fabulous pool, large garden, lots of outside sitting/dining areas, beautiful and spacious interiors, a large and very well equipped kitchen (we loved the ice dispenser!). The children (1-5) loved the nearby lake where they paddled, splashed about and built sandcastles. Plenty of shade and grass and a good restaurant.
We had amazingly good weather so were mostly outdoors but if one hit a rainy day, there is plenty of entertainment (great dvd collection) inside.
All in all, a very happy choice, enjoyed by young and old!

Fantastic 10 days at Maison Joutard. The highlights:-
Fantastic welcome pack. House and garden perfect for our toddlers. Equipped with everything we needed.
We visited Cognac, Bordeaux, Villefagnan. Cycling to the bakery in Verdille. Whole experience highly recommended.

Wow what a fab house! We had a brill time chilling in the garden and visiting local toddler friendly places... Would highly recommend the following:-
Monkey village, paddling at Villefagnan and Cognac visit.
We spotted red squirrels in the garden. The welcome pack is the best and most comprehensive we have every had and was so appreciated. Thank you! We would love to come again some time!

We had a fantastic week here, the weather was very good - sunny every day, except one. Got up to 28 degrees.
Used the pool everyday, bets way to keep cool. We thought the house was very good, had everything you would want.
The welcome hamper we had was very good. The best we have ever had, we must have stayed at 20 French houses over the past 10 years but never seen so much food provided.
We didn't do out too much as we had been to area before preferred to be by the pool anyway.
We did however go to the Hennessey distillery at Cognac, enjoyed the tour 18 euros each.
Thought Cognac was a lovely town. So all in all, had a good vacation, would come back again.
Thank soo Phil and Ann for making the house so clear and tidy, we didn't have any problems with anything in the house, which must be a first! All the best.

Weather lovely watching the house and surroundings. Trip to a little place 45 or so miles away called Coulon well worth a day out there.
It was a very pretty riverside town where you could hire bikes, canoes or kayaks or take a leisurely stroll only the banks. Then enjoy refreshments at the riverside bars/restaurants while enjoying the sunshine and scenery. Will definitely visit again.
Stayed here many times and never get tired as there is always somewhere new to go and explore (if you can bear ro tear yourself away from here). Thanks Anna and James for letting us use your beautiful house.
