Christmas holidays in Provence-Alpes Côte d'Azur

Wheat seeds: Provence is known for its traditions, including germinating wheat or lentil seeds in three saucers covered with damp cotton on December 4, Saint Barbara's day, 20 days before Christmas. On Christmas Eve, on New Year's Eve, the three cups representing the Trinity are placed on the table. Tradition has it that if the stems grow straight, green, and the wheat has germinated well, the year will be good and the next harvest will be good. The Santons of Provence: Also, the santons of Provence, which represent the villagers and the stories. This tradition is present everywhere in Provence and there are around a hundred workshops between Marseille, Aubagne, Aix en Provence and Arles which offer handcrafted santons for the nursery.
