The must-sees in the Jura

Lakes, mountains, walks, pleasant villages. The Jura has a multitude of must-see sites. Passing by the Cascade du Hérisson, the Pic de l'Aigle and Belvedere of the 4 lakes, Château-Chalon, Lake Chalain... Let's discover the Jura together.

The Hérisson Waterfalls

Registered in the network of Great Sites of France, the walk along the edge of these waterfalls is a delight.

You can enjoy it as much in summer by swimming or in winter with the snow which promises a most magical landscape!

How to visit these waterfalls?

By taking a hike in the middle of nature, this will allow you to admire the historical remains. The force of the water of this cascade attracted the populations during 7 centuries, in order to forge tools. The inhabitants also used local natural resources, such as hemp, iron ore, cereals or wood.

The waterfalls are located on the territory of Ménétrux-en-Joux. You will find several options allowing you to access the waterfalls.

The Peak of the Eagle and Belvedere of the 4 lakes

Visiting the Jura also means walking through the natural sites by learning the hiking trails leading to the Pic de l'Aigle or the Belvédère des 4 Lacs.

You will discover splendid panoramas and landscapes.

A culminating summit of 993 meters which dominates the 4 lakes. A magnificent view in the Jura.

Access is via a 2km path and a 90m drop from the village of La Chaux-du-Dombrief.

Hikes to the Peak of the Eagle: For the more motivated, you will have the choice between several hikes, from 1h to 3h and more.

Château-Châlon

Lake Chalain

It is the largest lake in the Jura and has a very specific singularity. Either, its incredibly turquoise water.

Nestled in the forest it is surrounded by mountains, just go to the belvedere of Fonttenu to gain height and admire its beauty.

With its two equipped beaches and nearby activities, it allows you to fully enjoy it with family or friends.

What to do at Lac de Chalain?

Swimming in summer, activities such as fishing, canoeing, mountain biking or hiking. And in winter you can enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, walks.


The Jura deserves to be visited and explored for a short or long stay.
