Don Quichotte
"The plot of Don Quixote revolves around the thwarted loves of the beautiful Kitri and her lover Basilio, with moments of bravery and scenes full of humour. In his new version in a prologue and three acts, Kader Belarbi wanted make room for the eponymous hero of these adventures, the Knight of the Sad Face and his faithful squire Sancho.
Inspired by a few colorful episodes from Cervantes' novel, the choreographer invites us to follow in a delirium of grandeur, between real and imaginary, the footsteps of Don Quixote, helmet tied and spear in hand, riding his steed Rocinante. And as Sancho Panza says to his master, it is with crickets in his head that the ingenious Hidalgo leads us into visions and ramblings between ladies to be saved and giants to be defeated.
The costumes, sets and lights help create a colorful and festive ballet with Spanish flame." Extract from the website of Kader Belarbi (https://www.kaderbelarbi.com)
