Location

The property is located in open countryside close to the small hamlet of Payrignac, between Gourdon and Sarlat-la-Canéda.

10 minutes walk to local village which has a restaurant, a lake and a tennis court.

Gourdon, 5 minutes with all shops including supermarket and restaurants.

Further shops, supermarket and many more restaurants / café bars etc in Sarlat-la-Canéda, 20 minutes. Sarlat-la-Canéda is a very popular tourist destination; a charming and busy traditional village with all amenities which is the capital of Perigord Noir. Lots of 15th and 16th century houses make this a very picturesque place and there are many good restaurants and cafés to discover. Excellent market on Saturday.

Don't miss a trip to La Roque-Gageac, a stunningly beautiful village under the towering cliffs. The village regularly wins France's 'Prettiest Village' competition. Good canoeing centre here.

Competing with La Roque-Gageac in the prettiness stakes is the village of Carennac. Elevated just above the South bank of the river, it is best known for its typical Quercy architecture and Romanesque priory. Further Romanesque art at the Saint-Pierre church in Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne.

Perhaps the most famous of the Dordogne tourist attractions are the cave paintings around Les Eyzies. There are more pre-historic caves in this area than you could ever visit in a day! Les Eyzies lies at the heart of an unspoilt area of great natural beauty with rolling hills, tranquil rivers and fascinating cliff and rock formations.

It has some of the world's most beautiful caves with outstanding stalactite and stalagmite crystallizations. And the cave-lined Vézère valley has been classified as a heritage site by UNESCO. The most well-known of all is the cave at Lascaux which was discovered in 1940. The paintings date back some 17,000 years.

Reviews

« It is such a lovely, clean and well maintained house, and I can honestly say that our stay there was fabulous. The overall feeling of the place is “calm” and that’s exactly how we felt, and what we needed. It was so quiet and peaceful, and there was no light or noise pollution, enabling us to relax and sleep soundly. It was a home from home and had all the facilities we needed to make our stay a pleasurable one.

We visited nearby Gourdon, and also Sarlat – which has a fantastic market on a Saturday. We also went to Padirac caves, which was well worth the visit (apart from the number of steps…) and then on to Rocamadour – also a very beautiful place.

Thank you once again for allowing us to stay in your home – I would definitely recommend it! »  The Wicks Family

« We had a most enjoyable and relaxing time. The house was ideal for us and was clean and well equipped. We particularly liked the tipping sunloungers as they were so comfortable.
Also the secure garden meant that we did not have to worry about either of our two dogs escaping. The pool was definitely a highlight clear, blue and inviting so refreshing from the heat of the sun. It was a truly relaxing holiday.
The location was also good for visiting the many beautiful villages and sites in the Dordogne. »  Ian and Sandra (Derbyshire, UK)

« A very well equipped and extremely clean property, very comfortable with all latest kitchen appliances. Plenty of space and storage for clothing. We have had a relaxing and restful time. What a lovely break, so tranquil. »  K Harley & L Bowen

« We have all had a wonderful holiday. The pool was fun especially with the inflatables. The children spent a lot of time in it. We had an enjoyable day in Sarlat and an even better day canoeing on the river Dordogne. The roads are very quiet and perfect for cycling. The house and gardens are in a very peaceful and restful location. The house is comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. We have had lots of fun and are sorry to have to go home. »  McGuinness & Makin families

« We really enjoyed your house - very comfortable & well-equipped and loved the pool and location. Enjoyed using the nearby farm shop - wonderful bread, produce and yoghurts! A lovely holiday. Thank you. »  Helen & Paul McAndrews

« Had a lovely two weeks, enjoyed waking up to the hot sun and seeing the lizards. Nice property, very well equipped. The pool was lovely and we really enjoyed the inflatables. Beautiful and peaceful location. Supermarkets not far away. Loved going to Sarlat and Gourdon. Recommend Forêt des Singes - where you can hand feed the monkeys as the roam free. Overall, had an amazing holiday! »  Ian, Angela, Matthew and Emily

« Beautiful countryside, weather fantastic - lots to do and see. Really enjoyed the peace and tranquility and the pool! A most relaxing holiday - highly recommended »  Symon, Hanstock and Dinsdale

« Great property for a holiday! Very comfortable and excellent pool which children and adults enjoyed. Outside equipment and inflatables were appreciated. Very clean on arrival. Weather was good. The local restaurant in Pagrinac was great with quality food and only a 15 minute walk. Enjoyed the area, including Sarlat, Rocamador village and falconry. Kayaking down the Dordogne river is a must! Thank you from all of us! »  Mandy 42, Kevin 39, Darren 40, Angie 44, Lauren 16, Sian 13, Luke 10 - Suffolk, UK

« This is a beautiful part of the world, the accommodation is spacious and cosy with plenty of storage space for clothing etc. It was great that pool towels were supplied as we did not have enough room in our suitcases. We loved the pool and the fact it was so close to the house, we used the games supplied by the owners in the pool and garden. We will be booking again next year with friends and family. Internet access was superb and being able to watch our favourite programmes while on holiday as a result of the owners having Sky TV was brilliant. »

« We have had a wonderful time here at your property. Enjoyed peace and relaxation. Weather very hot. The pool was 30 degrees. It was excellent, so clean it was like a swimming in a bath, we will really miss it. The house was very well equipped, lovely and cool and very clean. »  Mary Saunders and Jacqui Clydesdale - Bedford, UK

« Great holiday in pleasant surroundings. The pool was fantastic, providing many happy hours for all of us. Location excellent, 5 mins drive from Gourdon where they are cafes and picturesque settings. Recommended for a good family holiday. »  Kim, Chris, Fenn and family
