The château is situated in rolling Gascony countryside 3 km from the hamlet of La Romieu, almost midway (70 minutes) between Toulouse and Bordeaux.
This is a beautiful area; surrounded by hills, amid cornfields and vines, at an average height of 82 meters, the region enjoys a micro-climate with lush, luxuriant plants in summer, which even in winter keep most of their foliage thanks to a mild average temperature (about 13°) which is hardly different from that of Biarritz and Marseille in the deep South.
The château is surrounded by open fields and a neighbouring reservoir. The hamlet of La Romieu is ideal for all the daily basics with its General Food store, newsagent / tobacconist, café bar and post office.
The pretty town of Condom is 16 km away and has excellent shops and all amenities including very good, traditional restaurants.
Lectoure (17 km) also has a good selection of shops and restaurants. Golf at Fleurance, 25 minutes drive.
Further restaurants and interesting villages to discover in the immediate locale. Comprehensive information and recommendations fully available from the guardians of the château on the estate!
« We had a lovely stay this summer at Château de Aignan. The château is beautiful. The grounds were impressive and the views were great. It was a wonderful experience for us as a family to create wonderful memories and enjoy this great location and chateau. Donna and Pascal were also lovely. Friendly and helpful they were a great help making a wonderful experience that much better. We could not be more pleased with our time. » Duane, Trish and the girls - Canada
« Château Saint-Aignan far exceeded our expectations. Inside, the property had been thoughtfully and generously modernised in the way of extra bathrooms and the kitchen, yet still in keeping with the style and period of the original property. The fixtures and fittings, both those original and new, were all of top quality and the accommodation extremely comfortable. Outside, the full-width terrace overlooked the magnificent grounds and enormous pool.
All of which are kept in immaculate condition by the hard-working Pascal and Donna. They were the ideal 'guardians', living close to the château, eager to help out and solve any problems, but never being intrusive. Any questions from the guests were always promptly and cheerily answered and any challenges (e.g. having to find an available dentist at prompt notice for unexpected root canal treatment!), solved to everybody's satisfaction. Pascal and Donna really gave an extra edge to staying at Château Saint-Aignan and we would all love to go back again. » Ian, Sabine, Tom and Kristine - Belgium
